Giro Account

Almost all banks offer giro accounts. As they usually incur fees, it’s best to compare them in advance.

The following documents are generally required to open an account:

• Valid identity card or passport
• Registration card in Germany / Evidence of place of residence
• The reason for staying in the country may need to be submitted
• Work permit if applicable
